Valjean Whitlow, Ph.D. For Our Clients

Valjean-Whitlow-phd-north-atlanta I am Valjean McNeill Whitlow, a Licensed Clinical Psychologist, Certified Life Coach and College Educator with over 22 years of experience in empowering women, motivating teenagers and strengthening families. My coaching expertise lies in helping people to become successful by improving their decision making skills, communicating more efficiently, resolving parenting conflicts, blending their new families more effectively, making life transitions with less stress, and identifying and conquering hindrances to progress, such as automatic negative thoughts, ADHD and performance anxiety.

I am also skilled at conducting ADHD, learning and values assessments, taking into consideration where people are in their development prior to setting goals and creating an accountability plan.
I earned my Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Psychology from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale in 1989 and 1993, respectively. I currently maintain a private practice in the Atlanta area, which I combine with teaching, my other passion. I have taught at Wellesley College, Boston University School of Medicine , Belmont University, Georgia State University and Kennesaw State just to name a few. I am currently teaching undergraduate psychology courses online at American Public University, in West Virginia.

In my spare time, I love to travel, read autobiographies, love stories and mystery novels, bowl and try out new restaurants.
Areas of Specialty are: Women’s Issues, Parenting, ADHD and LD, Grief & Loss and Career Transitions.
